New Research Programme for Foreign Affairs, Security, and Defence Policy
A call for applications for research projects in foreign affairs, security, and defence policy in the North Atlantic Ocean is being prepared by Research Council Faroe Islands and will be announced shortly.
The programme is financed by the Danish government which has set aside a total of MDKK 15.7 in 2023-2026 for the new programme.
The aim of the programme is to generate new knowledge on foreign affairs, security and defence policy in the North Atlantic Ocean and to promote cooperation between Faroe Islands, Greenland, and Denmark.
A programme committee with members from Faroe Islands, Greenland, and Denmark has been appointed by Research Council Faroe Islands to set the terms for the applications and to award funding from the programme.
The first call from the programme is expected to be announced in January. The intention is that approximately MDKK 7.0 will be available for funding in the first call.
Research institutes in Faroe Islands, Greenland, and Denmark are eligible to apply for funding for research in foreign affairs, security, and defence policy in the North Atlantic Ocean. At least two of the three countries will have to collaborate on the project in order to receive funding.
The total funding is on the condition that the amounts set aside the coming years will be adopted by the Danish parliament.
