Funds for research in ocean and climate in the North Atlantic Ocean

The Danish government has allocated 25.5 MDKK over the next 4 years for a research programme on ocean and climate in the North Atlantic Ocean.

Research Council Faroe Islands has been asked to run the programme. The major part of the funds will be granted for research projects via open calls. A minor part of the funds will be spent on running the programme.

The Board of the Research Council has decided that approximately 4 MDKK wil be availabele in a call in 2020. The final submission date will be 21th September 2020 at 12:00.

The maximum amount of funding available per project is DKK 2 millions. Funds will be allocated to two-three projects depending on the scope and budget.

The programme is intended to build upon the previous research done in the field, and the results are to create new knowledge on the ocean, ocean currents and fish stocks in the North Atlantic Ocean.

It is a prerequisite that he programme include research institutions in the Faroe Islands, Greenland and Denmark in order to strenghten their mutual cooperation in marine research.
